Our new school year 2011-2012 has begun!  The biggest adjustment for the students  seems to be the longer day. School lunch is the most exciting part of the day and having 3  recesses is really awesome!

As you know, the Decodable Books and the Phonics Pages will be coming home as the necessary skills are taught in the classroom.  Please remember to have your child practice the words and sounds until they can read them with ease.  Please send the Phonics Page back with your signature and sign off the Decodable Book in your child's homework folder.

Also, don't forget to record and total your child's reading minutes on the calendars in your child's homework folder.  I will record the reading minutes at he end of each month.

September 5th is Labor Day and there will be no school on that day.  There will also be an early release day on the 30th for teacher training.

Fridays are School Spirit Days.  The children are encouraged to wear school T-shirts or any shirt red or blue on Fridays.  We will be having activities at school to promote school spirit. 

1ST GRADE IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE!!!!!!

Summer Fun 06/01/2011
 
I hope you are having a great summer, free from flooding.  Remember to read with your child every day. I am excited to be your child's teacher this fall!

Blow bubbles, go on a hike, play on the tramp, run through the hose, make a fort, ride bikes, look at the clouds, visit a friend, make cookies, learn something new, start a nature collection, play a game and most important.....  Have fun every day.
